Of Tea and Daydreams

Happy Sunday everyone. This week's post isn't going to be deep, and I apologize in advance....I don't have a story for this week. I do want to discuss an event that I found out from the Second Life fashion event blog called Seraphim.  This blog is my go to in fashion events, both old and new. I check it out at least once a week, and I am a member of their in-world group as well ( I highly recommend joining).

Dress-Leechouette- fluffy Dream emma; eyes- RedGrave CatGreen; eyelashes-RedGrave Elemental 16; feet-Noya FlatBare Feet; Nails-Salt. Manicure french satin; necklace- .Tokame. Star in a Cage(The Dreamer's Catch group gift); Hair- Truth Blythe Blonde; Ring- Earthstones-Splendid Love Bridal Set

Seraphim had mentioned something about "The Dreamer's Factory" in a blog post earlier this week. It seemed interesting enough, but what really caught my eye was that Zenith (my beloved Zenith) was one of the contributing designers. So I took the SecondLife link (i.e. surl) to the location, and to my surprise, the event wasn't where the link took me. I had to first fall asleep on a wonderfully fluffy looking bed and enter into dreamland, and once in this dreamland I had to take a cloud to the actual event. I am serious. It was so much fun! The creators of the event are MARVELOUS! It is so fun and creative, I have not been to a fashion event like it before. Now, the event itself it simple enough, but the getting to it part.....wonderful. It was fun, and I HIGHLY recommend going (I will post a surl link at the bottom of the post).  There were wonderful simple dresses, shoes, and a really cute summer picnic hat gotcha machine. The items there are all fabulous, and I ended up getting a few items I wouldn't normally grab (a few bicycles with poses mayhaps).

Overall, this event is a must see. I even joined the group roster so I can definitely keep up-to-date on the new rounds and what-not later on. So check it out my Tea Readers--Close your eyes, start to dream a beautiful dream. When you wake up, I will have your tea ready.

~Sweet Tea or Unsweet Tea? In the End It's Still Tea~

Happy Sunday everyone. I have been thinking, and planning, and consulting, and doing more thinking about this week's post. Last week I mentioned and posted pictures of my other "persona" on Second Life. Same avatar, different skin, eyes, hair, style, etc... I was talking about how creating a new look, completely different look, and the hunting for the clothes and items for the different looks was almost meditative/therapeutic for me. Well, I wanted to share the story behind my other persona, or as I refer to it as, the AntiSun. Go ahead, put your kettle on-it is story time.

Almost a year ago, my real life became really crazy. My family and I were experiencing a crisis. Before this crisis happened, I was experiencing a lull in my Second Life. I used to be open to changes and  being flexible, but since I have gotten older I find I like consistency and stability. When there are lots of changes (and if you worked were I worked you would COMPLETELY understand) it is frustrating never knowing what to do. Being flexible can only help so much. So anyway, my Second Life was getting pretty predictable. I was doing the same things whenever I was logging on, nothing fashion wise was taking my interest, even though new things were coming out; I wasn't really talking to many of my friends and Second Life Family, I was just in a lull. So, there I was going through my inventory(doing a clean up) and I noticed I had some skins which I bought intending to be used for a role play, that sadly I never ended up starting, and I had some clothes that I bought because I liked yet the outfit wasn't my style... So there I am looking at a these skins and outfits and I started to think...why not create a whole new look. Why not build a completely different avatar out of some of this stuff.

It took me a whole weekend to create the whole look of the AntiSun. Were I am tan, the AntiSun is pale; I have blonde hair, AntiSun has jet-black hair; I have green eyes, AntiSun has pale Lavender eyes. Even the shapes are different. When wearing any of my AntiSun outfits, I enjoy going places I don't normally go in Second Life. I feel more domineering and assertive when wearing the AntiSun. Normally I feel bright and full of life, but wearing the AntiSun I feel darker and just mysterious. The AntiSun is to me as a White Dwarf is to a Star. Your kettle is about to whistle, if it isn't already, go ahead and take it off the burner.

SUN: hair-Truth Dasha Blonde, dress-Zenith Bohemian Summer Rose, necklace- Fans & Co Arwen Evenstar, Earrings-EarthStones Floral Stud Fire Opal, skin- Unique Megastore India, eyelashes- RedGrave elemental 16, eyes-RedGrave Catgreen
ANTISUN: hair-Truth Carrie Black; outfit-Utopia Dalila; necklace-Amorous Ankh; Earrings- Gold Diamond (got them on the marketplace a long time ago...); skin-Redgrave Fairy Vampire Skin-Bella; lipstick-Redgrave BloodRed (came with the bundle of skins); eyelashes RedGrave Elemental 16, eyes-NoirOptix Pale Violet

Soon after making the AntiSun, my family(in Real Life) underwent a horrible tragedy. I was not able to get online, and when I was online, it was only for a few minutes at a time. After a few months, my Real Life was changing into something I was coming to terms with, and I was able to really get online and when I got online, I was trying to get caught up on what I missed while offline, and I found myself creating more different looks. I was creating different looks for my normal look. Nothing offers more inspiration than trying to do something completely new and different and against the norm. And, my AntiSun outfits aren't really anti-me. It is still me, just a bolder more provocative me. Go ahead and pour yourself a cuppa.

In keeping with this week's post, I make a different Avatar look from some of the items I found at this month's Genre round. This month's theme is Baroque. Well...The notice said, "Let them eat cake" but we all know it is done in the Baroque style. Lots of colors, beautiful pieces which seem out of time and just priceless. So I made a Baroque Avatar.

Hair- Boudoir, Baroque hair silver; dress-The Library, Marie; necklace- [L] Marie Necklace, Antoinette Gold/Cream; skin-L~Delphine: Honey/Versailles Mild Cleavage; eyelashes-NOYA Vamp eyelashes; eyes-RedGrave CatGreen

Well, that's it for this Sunday. Feel free to comment or send me a question. I would be happy to answer. And just remember, even though someone else looks different, no matter how different, they are still the same. Hugs and Smooches my Tea Readers!

Need to Relax, Try Some Lavender

This week's post is going to be about relaxation. Real Life, and sometimes unfortunately Second Life, can be stressful at times for everyone. I know when I get stressed, and I know this is a problem of itself, I like to go shopping. The act of actually searching for something, hunting for the perfect outfit or item (in Real Life and Second Life) relaxes me-to the point where I actually get tired and have to take a nap.  Now normally a good cup of Lavender tea or a cup of Relax by Tazo (if you haven't tried a cup of "Relax" tea by Tazo, next time you go to a Target or a store that has Tazo's, Starbucks for example, please buy a box. When you get stressed, make a cuppa. It will calm you) can calm me down, and making a good cup takes time, which allows me to reflect on what has been going on, so when I get to my cuppa, I start to feel better and am ready to face Life again head on... But for the really hard days, for the days my stress level hits certain limits, shopping, and putting together the new outfits relaxes me. Is your kettle on? Better go put on your favorite kettle; I know mine is on.

This week hasn't been particularly more stressful than others, but lots of new rounds started for a few different groups to whom I adore, and I was excited to get to venues to see all the new gorgeous items. First, I want to apologize for talking a lot about Collabor88's theme being Nautical last Sunday, because on Tuesday they changed for a new round, whose theme is Safari. If you were excited to go and see the Nautical themed outfits and items, and arrived and saw lots of giraffes and natural colors instead of seaside colors and sea stars, it is my fault. I forgot the Collabor88 rounds change on the 8th of every month. My fault for not mentioning.  Back to the new round of Collabor88, Safari.  I am not an animal print person, and I was very surprised to see very little outfits with animal print! Everything is in nature tones, the outfits vary from dresses to shorts and tops; lots of different kind of shoes to be had, for both slink and non-slink feet. I was most surprised by the designer Zenith being there! Zenith for those of you who do not know, is an amazing designer, one of my favorites. When I saw the new dress out at Collabor88, I immediately bought the dress and the purse. So very lovely. It is a long, almost maxi, looking dress with a fabric belt wrapped around the middle with a flower (you can also change the color of the flower). The bag comes in different colors of leather/suede and you can change the fabric pattern to something very tribal or to something very simple and floral. I also ended up buying an outfit not typical of me, I bought a safari outfit. The outfit is by Tres Blah, and it is so versatile, it is a must see (for me it was a must have). This brings me to Season's Story.

Season's Story is a fabulous event that I recently found out about in the Spring. It comes out only once per season, and this season's round is out. Zaara, whom I feel everyone knows I LOVE, has a new dress out at Season's Story. And it shouldn't be too crowded now since it came out on Thursday. There are still some designers who have yet to set up, and I am looking forward to see their items. Zenith also has a gotcha machine out for cute animal purses. There are outfits for ladies and for gentleman, and items for homes and gardens. A very lovely apple orchard/farm sim set up. Very nice. Going through all the designers' stations was so therapeutic.  Please take the kettle off the stove, and try to slowly steep your tea; you want it perfect, don't you?

Like I said, this week hasn't been more stressful than other, but shopping at these new rounds kept be balanced in a way. I was so relaxed while shopping, and putting together my new outfits.  I was able to check out some other places as well to see what they had before their new rounds started, but I didn't find anything of particular interest. What I really want to talk about as a stress reliever for me on Second Life, which I was able to do yesterday...all day.  I went shopping for a new summer swim suit, for a different look I have. While trying to find this new summer suit for my different look, I had to go hunting for a new hair, new swim suit, I even bought new mesh feet from NOYA. I was able after playing with my look all day, to get it, what I feel is, perfect. And the picture from above and below show a hard days work.

To me it was so relaxing to shop, edit, and to create this outfit/look.  I am even having fun running around in it. At the end of the day, when I was done, I felt good...and sleepy.  Now, yesterday I did not only just find this new look. I have a Real Life, too. But I had so much fun putting this look together, and it made me lose my sense of time and it allowed me to not focus on the stresses of Real Life or Second Life. It could be seen as a form of meditation....Okay, maybe that is a big stretch, but you get the idea. Next week, I plan on talking more about my different look, because yesterday was not the first time this new "persona" was seen. I had created it long before...At least the basics for it. Thanks for reading, now go enjoy your cuppa.

~Wait Till the Kettle Whistles~

Skin: Unique Megastore Ethnic India, Dress: Junbug Sally, Hair: Truth Oceana, Earrings: Earthstones Tahiti Pearls, Necklace: Yummy Anchor Necklace, Eyeshadow: Senzafine Safira eyeshadow+liner Amber, Eyelash: Redgrave -16-Elemental

Sorry for taking so long to get back to the blog; I have been without a computer this whole time, and now finally have a new, new computer. I didn't know what to put in this blog entry since I haven't been online for a while. I will however talk to you all about some of the fashion festivals/fairs/events going on, and what I thought about them.

First, Collabor88:  This past round's theme is very nautical. And I love it! As a marine biologist in real life, all things ocean I simply adore. So, imagine me surprised and excited when I log on for the first time in over a month and teleport to Collabor88 and see all the beautiful nautical themed items. I was ecstatic. If you love to be on the ocean, beach, and anything nautical, head on over to Collabor88 and check out what the wonderful creators and designers have put together for this month's round.

Second, Summerfest '14:   This is a fashion fair/event of sorts that completely revolves around, you guessed it, Summer! I feel in love with a dress, some sunglasses, and a few pairs of shoes; yet again lots of nautical, and summertime, items to be had.  I ended up taking my Second Life sister there because we were looking for some shorts and a few cut-off tops. She ended up teleporting away with some pretty summery sexy looks. All the people who have participated in Summerfest...Wow! It's a very clean set up and there are little treasures in every beach hut. Not much for the male avatars, but that leads me to The Men's Department.

Third, The Men's Department:  Now, TMD is not just for men...well it sort of is, but it has some unisex clothing as well as home decor, poses, accessories.  TMD is in the summer spirit as well and everything is relaxed and simple. Lots of nice open collared shirts, t-shirts, shoes and shorts for the summer.  I always check out TMD for little items for me and for clothes my partner would look handsome in--TMD NEVER disappoints(yes I meant for never to be all capitalized). By the way, if you are a man and you are reading this...Please go to The Men's Department! Us ladies do like a sexy looking well dressed man.

Fourth, Genre:  I hope all of you have heard about Genre. It is an amazing event, held every month, which revolves around a particular group or theme in Second Life. Some of the more recent themes have been Furry, Big Band Era, Mermaids, and this months theme....ARABIAN! I am all for ethnic and exotic. My heart goes pitter-patter for all things cultural. So when I went to check out Genre, I was again excited (I think Second Life missed me, and this is why all the events I have been to have been awesome~). Lots of nice, great quality items ranging from home decor, skins, jewelry, clothes, and makeup. There are a few harem outfits, not silks, jut harem girl outfits, and where I do have quit a few harem outfits, the ones out at Genre, where they are nice, I thought they were lacking in some detail. Don't get me wrong, the outfits that are out are of a good quality and cheap (Genre has a thing where items are 100L$ or less)--yet for me there was something lacking...maybe a lack of gold embroidery, or some beading...I don't know, but the outfits are simple and pretty.

Fifth, We <3 Role-Play:  I almost missed last months round of We <3 Role-Play (WHRP), and I am glad I didn't, and this months round just opened yesterday afternoon. I was lucky enough to have been able to get into the event on the second try (for those of you who don't know about WHRP--which is not cool, now you know, so go check it out...NOW!--whenever WHRP opens every month with the region is constantly full for the first day. Some people have more patience than I do and they are fine waiting a few days to go...I am not patient when it comes to new clothes and fun items with which I know I do not need, but MUST HAVE). Hooray for me getting in! And I almost went broke when I went. This round has so much awesomeness....I don't even know what to say. If you haven't checked out "The Blogging Elf", you need to. She blogs about the rounds and posts pictures of the items to tease you right before the event opens every month. I was able to get quit a lot of items for what I paid.

Sixth, Fit for a Princess:  I made it just in time to see last months round from Fit for a Princess and I was lucky enough to get a very cute denim dress that had this amazing floral Cardigan by Sew Chic, but a new round is coming up soon, and I am excited to see what the theme is (the have had floral, light, and modern) for this upcoming round.

Seventh, The Liaison Collaborative:  This months round from The Liaison Collaborative is Bali. The clothes are simple, yet full of color. The fashion part of the Liaison isn't very large, but the quality (GASPS) so amazing.
Alas, there are way more events and plenty of new releases from some of my favorite stores in the last month (everyone I guess has been inspired by the Summer muses), but I won't discuss them this time. Since I haven't spent enough time exploring and meeting people and talking to friends, I feel horrible I don't have a story to tell you. I am going to post the Surls for the some of the events I have mentioned at the bottom of the blog in case anyone wants to check them out...you totally should.
