Tea Room Flashback #1

Dress: Salt. Watercolour Garden Dress; Hat: Salt. Birdwatcher's Hat; Hair: Truth Guinevere; Necklace: Zenith Earth Stone Butterfly Necklace
This week's post is going to be about those older outfits that you have in your inventory.  You know that one outfit you saved up your hard earned Linden dollars for? That one that you thought you would never get, and then once you got it, you wore it everywhere. Well, I have a few of those outfits, and they are all by a designer, who I wish would create more items (especially if she could do mesh, I think that would be marvelous) whose store is named Salt.

After I first joined Second Life, it was really hard for me to find outfits I was comfortable wearing out for any occasion. I hardly had any outfits in my inventory, thankfully my sister Earth was able to help me get my wardrobe started, but I still didn't have much.  When I went out inworld to go shopping, all I could find was provocative outfits, and most of the freebie outfits were just whorish.  So, I went out onto the marketplace to find some dresses (because I love wearing dresses both in Real Life and Second Life) which one could wear out shopping, hanging out at home with family/friends, and going out dancing.  Let me tell you something...Easier said than done. I was on the marketplace for what seemed like forever....Forever! And then, right when I was about to give up, I saw a dress that I instantly fell in love with. I immediately bought the dress, and proceeded to buy out the store in world.

Whenever I wear one of the Salt. dresses, I always get complimented and I just love them. The dresses are not mesh, and Tammy Goodliffe, the creator/designer, has not created anything new in a long while. Regardless, the dresses are reasonably priced, classy, and oh so magnificent. I love them. They were my first go to outfits, and whenever I am in doubt, I just put on one, add some accessories, and then BOOM! Outfit complete.

I am going to do more posts about older outfits I have, and older designers I love and I will post the blog title as a Tea Room Flashback. New is nice, but those oldies sure are goodies.

Salt. marketplace store:  It appears Tammy Goodliffe took down her marketplace store, the only store she has now is the one inworld. Please check it out! I don't know how long she will have her dresses for sale, and they are all must haves.

As Fresh as Peppermint Tea

This week's blog post is going to short and sweet. Genre has a new round out this month and the theme is Petites--so if you have a petite avatar this round is for you. I do not have a petite avatar, so this round does not have anything that works with my outfits (though I did see some stuff that might work for a few of my friends who have petite avatars). Just a note, Genre's rounds have items that are 100$L or less.

Lots of events going on right now, and make sure you check them out before they end. District 5 is going on right now, and there is something there for everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE. Five different styles of fashions.  The Liaison Collaborative is going on, and this new round is Route 66. When I went to go check it out it reminded me of old family vacations and being out on the open road. Kustom9 is also new this week, and their theme is Kawaii. Everything is cute, and has a very feminine look.

As new rounds open up, others start to close. Please try to check these places out! Hope you enjoy.

Anyone Fancy Some Shepherd's Tea?

We <3 Role-Play, or WHRP, opened a few days late this month (normally opens on the fourth of every month). Every round just gets better and better. They opened up a bigger sky-box for the event, and that means MORE STUFF! I was really excited about a Greek Goddess themed dresses released by Les Encantades. I haven't heard of this particular designer before, and I am glad I do know now. The dresses are gorgeous--there are four different color themes all named and sort of styled like the leading Goddesses in Greek Mythology, Hera (wife of Zeus), Persephone (wife of Hades), Amphitrite (wife of Posideon), and then this lesser known nymph Flora (I couldn't really find much on her except she was a spring-time flower nymph. I don't really know why the creator choose Flora along with the other wife of the three main Gods of Greek Mythology, but I can see why she named the dress Flora due to the gown colored like a flower and with "flora" details).

The Gowns are 100L a piece, and they are all gorgeous. I ended up buying Hera and Amphitrite.  I love the story of Persephone and Hades (weird I know), and Persephone's dress is lots of black and red does have an Underworld feel to it. Persephone was not only the Queen of the Underwold, but she was a Spring/Vegetation Goddess (maybe she should of named the dress Flora after Kore, Persephone's name before she was kidnapped and forced to marry Hades. Here is a link to the wiki page with information about Hades abduction of Kore and her transition to Persephone...Still love the whole story, maybe I am weird).  For 100L, well worth the price. Each dress comes with some sort of corresponding accessory which complements the dress beautifully. Well worth the Linden. There are other beautiful dresses, accessories, skins, and an interesting long braided hair by Calique. Check it out at their new sky-box sometime this month before they close to do a new round.

Collabor88's round opened on Friday, the eighth, with the theme of Odyssey. They are celebrating their Third Birthday! Happy Birthday Collabor88! And, just like WHRP, the parcel has changed a little and has lots more designers/creators for this round to celebrate their Birthday. Some of the items fit Homer's Iliad with their own Modern twist while still keeping the theme recognizable in their designs, while others...not so much. Don't get me wrong, like every round, the items are great, but some of them just don't seem to fit well with the Odyssey theme.  I hate to say it, but Zenith disappointed me this time. GASP! I know, you are think, "But Sun, you love Zenith! How could Xylon [creator of Zenith] disappoint you?!" Her sandals to go with her dress she designed, don't look very Greek at all...Scratch that, they aren't. The heels are leather, and have a ton of fringe on the ankles that drop down to hang around the foot....Not Greek....at all. The dress is simple and pretty, somewhat  toga-ish if you ignore the leather off the shoulder....thing. The heels....just don't do it for me, sadly.

I am really into the Tres Blah dresses that are at Collabor88! Very Greek with a dash of modernization. A must have. Let me repeat that again...Must. Have. Everything is reasonably priced (88-188L). Junbug is there this month with a great dress. I picked up some new poses, and like I mentioned early, some of the items you can tell have that "something" which will make most people think Greek.

So this week's entry is more Greek based than anything... I kind of like it. Listed below are the SURLs to the events listed. Reminder these rounds just opened, so the regions/parcels might be full. Give it a minute, try to have some patience (even though I am horrible at it...it is a work in progress).

It's Good to the Last Drop

Hair- Truth Fleur with white flowers; outfit- MotiAme Off Shoulder top(white) with Bow Flare skirt floral option#2
Available for a limited time at KUSTOM9

Happy first of the month! Summer is halfway through, and for most kids, back to school time is coming up fast, so good-bye to summer vacation. For the the rest of us grown ups, the due date to put in for time-off to enjoy the summer is rapidly approaching, and pretty soon the summer will have flown by. There are a few other Summer Fashion events coming up in August, and one of those is Uber sponsored by Truth Hair. Okay, so honesty moment. This event, it's not huge, has AMAZING Mesh outfits, hairs, accessories, home items, a few skins...basically the items that are at the event are top quality, well priced, must have in your inventory NOW! items. Some of the items you might have to save for a rainy day when you are creating a new outfit (always a fun time), but everything is wonderful. Zaara has a new dress out exclusively at the event for now, and it is so flowing and free, a definite must have.  It is nice of Truth to sponsor a Summer event towards the end of Summer for those of us who don't want it to end just yet.

Season's Story is done with it's summer round, and I feel like it just opened up. I found myself teleporting over to their gorgeous sim at least once a week to take another look at a lot of the amazing clothes and items there. Collabor88 will be done soon with it's Safari round, so go ahead and take a look through if you haven't already (again, I keep going back to see if there is absolutely anything else I could want or need). Kustom9 is still going on, and I don't know when it will finish, but I bought a dress(really it is a shirt and skirt combo) and I am wearing it in this week's pictures.  I have been pairing it with a clutch I bought at Junbug called Princess Clutch (bought it in ivory)...Probably one of my new go to outfits.  Famished finished this week, but a new round opened up soon after, God Bless you Famished! The items at Famished are nice, and the outfits kind of make you think of the transition into autumn...cheeky designers. As some old rounds close, new rounds open up, and new events replace old.

Every event to me is just as good at it's start, as it is when it finishes. I find myself teleporting to the rounds multiple times to check things out, and sometimes when creating an outfit, I remember pieces from designers I saw at an event, and will check back to go grab it, or find something else.  So once you go to an event, don't just delete the landmark, or don't just go once--go multiple times. You don't have to buy something every time you go, but get to know what is there.  You might end up helping out a friend pick out a new outfit, or find that one missing piece the complete's his/her new look.  Do yourself and your friends a "solid", keep your eyes open for all that is there.  Keep going back. Because that one moment, when you think to yourself, "This needs something else, something to make me pop in the new outfit, " you want to be able to know where you can go to get yourself looking Awesome.
